We just get the new stock firmware for tronsmart vega s89 and vega s89 Elite version.
Thanks for all of your feedbacks in the first bulk. I have written all of the problem you guys talking,and keep pushing the factory to fix the problems,Now they have fixed most of the bugs i told to them, and here is the changelog for the new firmware:
1) I have reported there is noise when you use the spdif pass through,see the post here:
though you can mute your TV to get it work, the factory fix this, now Spidf passthrough is working ok;
2) Some customer complain the location weather is just chinese city, i have explained this is Amlogic SDK problem, so i have suggested the factory to remove this, so now you won’t see the chinese city locations;
3) some customer said the ethernet port don’t work, we are really nervous for this bugs, but after check all of our stock, we don’t find the similar problem, after talking with some developers, they send us some logs, and factory make some changes about the ethernet, they said it is fixed, so guys, if you have ethernet problem, try this new firmware;
4) Now you can power off the vega s89 via pressing the power button for 10 seconds;
5) The first bulk customer report, the vega s89 can’t download the google play store paid apps, now it is solved, check it please;
6) Added android original UI, so you can choose from the TV Launcher, and the android original UI;
7) Fix the cpu frequency problem,some developer check the kernel find for the first bulk, amlogic lock the cpu to 1.6Ghz?? i am not sure about this, but factory said they have made it to real 1.9Ghz, I just test the antutu, the score has been over 31000. it’s amazing.
8) Remove some useless app;

Update on 9th May, for standard users, if you flash the new firmware, and lost the 5g wifi, you can try the following method to fix:
Use Root Explorer+ (root enabled)
Copied config.txt to usb drive ,
Edited ccode=CN to ccode=ALL,
saved
Copied Edited Saved config.txt back to system/etc/firmware/
Restart the Wifi
Problem solved.

You should use method 2, i think.
And i am sorry that you have to update manually this time, because tronsmart tell me that the OTA update technology still have little problem, they are working hard to fix, and in next release, they will make the OTA update fully working.

It seems that HDMI passthrough is not working any longer, can anybody confirm this? (to know if I’m wrong somewhere!?)
which version do you have? Elite or standard?
i flash the new firmware on vega s89 elite, and the hdmi and optical passthrough still work.

Still audio sync issues, on both 8GB and 16GB version… Most noticeable in XBMC

S89 Standard.
I have sound output on both SPDIF/HDMI but as soon as it switches to passthru (DD/DTS movie), only SPDIF outputs sound.
Not really a problem since I mostly use optical audio receiver, but if I want to hear “TV only” it keeps totally quiet (tried with included XBMC and latest Nightly).
Yes, i have known the problem, will push factory to solve this in next update, now you can root the device, and get the problem solved.

the one on chinese site is original img file, and the one on mediafire is the one i compress

It works fine – I checked with some paid apps, and I didn’t notice any problem 🙂

We experience problems with ethernet on the 8GB version with the new firmware, any suggestions?

You can forget my comment about HDMI passthrough, it works. The fact is that S89 doesn’t care of TV’s EDID (which is a good thing) and my TV (Samsung) doesn’t manage correctly/at all passthrough…
So, nothing related to old/new firmware, problem will be solved with an HDMI/SPDIF switch.
Btw, no problem here with ethernet or bluetooth (can’t try 5g wifi, I’ve no device using it)
@ Eric: Has Tronsmart added the heatsink to the CPU on the production units as you suggested a while back when you opened the test unit.
@All Vega Owners: What is the delay value that you have to enter to get the pass through audio and video in sync?
@bertus: using XBMC on rooted device there’s no A/V sync issues, I suppose offset will mostly depend on TV input lag, usually bearable without taking care of delay.
Hello Eric. Ask the factory, so they did in the firmware choice between the internal memory and SD card at skachivpnii files from the Internet, all these files are not on the rock sd card and in the internal memory.Thank you

Today,i will have a new firmware, fix the XBMC A/V problem, i will upload, and share.
Guys I have a problem with some live tv streaming apps. The video looks distorted in the S89 but works just fine in other android devices. Is it a codec issue or some setting that I need to change ?
