Here is the instruction for how to root your tronsmart vega S89 and Vega S89 Elite quad core tv box:
1 Power on your Tronsmart vega s89 tv box. and turn on the USB Debug choice under setting;
2 Use the usb cable to connect your tronsmart vega s89 tv box with your windows PC(now only support root under windows system)
3 windows pc will detect to find a new device, and try to install the drivers, if you have problem to install the driver,please make sure to install the following tool in your pc:

4 Now we need to download the root tool, here is the download link:
http://www.mgyun.com/en/GetVRoot
install the “VROOT” and run it, it will detect the tronsmart vega s89, and just click “get root” button. This tool will help you to gain the root.
5 After one restart of your tronsmart vega s89, the vroot will inform you that you already get root access.
I think this method should work with all of the amlogic s802 base android tv box, i will test with other model, and report.

This worked and was pretty easy — couple of points:
Firstly, to enable USB Debugging you need to make the developer menu visible. To do this, go to ‘About MediaBox’ and keep clicking on the build number until it says “you are now a developer”
Second, when you connect the box to your PC in debug mode Android will ask you to accept the USB debugging connection. If you don’t, the connection will fail. This means you need to be able to see the screen output at the same time as it’s connected to your PC — trying to do it headless is a no-go.

Yes, you can root the s89-h with the same method. but with 108k4 firmware, the tronsmart vega s89 will come with pre-rooted.
just as a FYI type info for google to pick up for the hair pulling cnm owners out there in the future, given theres not a lot/near zero coverage about argos cnm 7dc” cnm10dc” rooting, this also works perfectly ( you do need to use USB2 not usb3 ports or an addon usb2 hub for it to work properly) with these older dual core a9 from the uk store, note that the cnm brand is now defunked, and their webpages are down so you cant get original roms or support there any more, and the 3rd party ROM vendors dont care to add these lesser known android devices to their supported pages, alas….

i already burned the firmware ,however the box will not boot.
the T.V does not recognize the HDMI or AV cable.
i also tried to flash with SD card-nothing.
i think i have a nice round thing to put my glass of tea on..
question… i have the tronsmart vega s89h.. it has been rooted from the vactory.. the problem i have is that when i goto google to watch my movies, all i get is sound with a black picture.. any help..?
