update on 18th Dec. MINIX just release the beta 2 version of xbmc.

* Handle issue with bottom ghost pixels on some vids

* Do not handle POWER button in XBMC (solves issue when using the remote power button)
* Remove HDMI audio option (prevent passthrough issues)

why it call MINIX Edition?
Because it is just for MINIX device, other rockchip device can’t use this edition;
What is the difference with other XBMC version?
As we all know, Rockchip don’t open source, so it is hard to use internal XBMC player to watch the 1080p video, however, This MINIX XBMC Edition will make the internal player work with 1080p video.
SO what is the detail of this version, check what MINIX said:
It has been optimized for the Rockchip VPU, so you’ll get better video performances than on a generic XBMC.
– VC1 and VP8 accelerated. Still issue with MPEG2.
– It contains the passthrough hack
– It has a distinctive android signature, so you can install it alongside any other XBMC. With further updates, you won’t loose your settings.
– It is based on Frodo (12.x)
This is just a Beta version, they are collecting feedback, and will release offical version soon. We are told this XBMC version should work with all MINIX serious, like NEO G4, NEO X5, NEO X7, NEO X5MINI, NEO X7MINI, but make sure you are use the latest stock firmware on those device.

I am from India, visited my daughter in USA ( San Jose ), and ordered from US to US address.
Though they have assured for free delivery within 4 to 7 days, I have suffered much delay for delivery. I have ordered on 29th Nov but received only today – 18th Dec.
Will it work with a finless rom, i know you said stock just wanted to double check
Had a look at freaktab and saw there is a version that will install ok on Bob’s 1.8.
I just received my minix neo mini 5, downloaded minix edition from minix website and it seems to be working fine. Do I have to download mx player from g play store to make xbmc play on this version? Also when I shut off box with the remote I can’t turn the the box back on with the remtote, have to unplug power from box to turn it on. I have been leaving box on 24/7 ijust switch hdmi back to cable box port, is this what I am supposed to be doing?
1) you don’t need to download mx player, the xbmc minix version use the internal player.
2) all of the minix device have such problem. or youcan’t say it is a problem, because factory said it has such design;
3) you have no problem to leave it turn on for 24/7.
