Update Method:
There are two methods to update firmware on Measy U4B:
1 Update by Micro SD Card directly,if you don’t brick your device, and can boot to system normal, then you can try this method:
Step 1: download the file;
Step 2: decompress the file, and put the update.img file to your micro sd card (please make sure there is no other img file in your micro sd card)
Step 3: insert the micro sd card to your Measy U4B,and the system will inform you, find a new update package, click “install‘， the system will reboot, and update the system, please don’t remove the power adapter when you do the update!
If you can’t boot to system, i think the above update method is useless for you, so what you should you, I ask Measy engineer, and they tell me another method, but i want to say, measy made a big mistake in the design of U4B, they don’t give customers ’recovery” button to do the system update, so the second update method is becoming a little more difficult for some guys, but don’t worry, you can follow ours instruction,and make your U4B alive again:)
Step 1:
Download the RKBATCH TOOLS and Drivers

Step 2
Open the RKBATCH TOOLS, and load the U4B firmware you just download;
Step 3:(the most important part)
Try to open your Measy U4B,and find a pin to short the following part , at the same time, you should connect your u4b with the computers,
and then the computer will inform you find a new device, and you should go to ‘device manager’ and choose the drivers you downloaded, and install the drivers, after that ,you will find in the RKBATCH TOOL, the “number 1” changed colour,and then you should click the “restore” button,and your U4B will do the flash.

Successfully tested installation from the SD card.
First try second method without short changeover and encountered a problem. MSWin7 successfully detects the device and disallowing the installation RK3188 drivers. This would result to RKBATCH TOOLS does not recognize the device.
Also encountered a problem with the mount flash drive. I had to mount the flash drive with the required format (although for that, I’m not sure, maybe is my fault). I had to mount the flash drive because MX player and BS player without it do not work.I added a google acc and approached Play Store. Winamp from the Store does not work. Additional applications “Settings” no longer exist.
Google play is pre installed. .. however the ROM size shows 1GB only .. where as the device supposed to have 8GB ROM..

Now I hate Measy!!!
Today received the device. Updated firmware. And WiFi is connected only b (g and n just do not connect)! And it does not work! Play Store can not be loaded!
I should have to buy Tronsmart ((((
Still working with measy to release the new firmware, measy is really slow for the firmware update,it’s sucks!
Which need a cable to flash the second method? Tried cable from the kit and close contacts it does not work the computer does not detect the device
Is there a way to get root? how to do it on this device?

So I have used the sdcard update method to install a custom firmware on my measy u4b, and it worked fine but I believe from what I have read about that firmware, for it to work properly I need to install it through the Rockchip Batch Tool, which I have downloaded and windows does not see the measy u4b.. this leads me to my question.

I have opened it, directions say “find a pin to short the following part” but where do I short? the picture above is horrible and there is nothing to short where the red arrow points??
What is the pins that need to be short? 7-8? 6-7?
Could you tell me which pin should I short? It’s hard to find out from that picture in the article.
