Ok, guys, it has been passed some days since we release the news of iMito QX1, and now finally, we have got the imito qx1 in stock now,and ready for ship, so we prepare this system review for you guys:
There are some changes for the real imito qx1 with my early news:
1 the case has made some change, the stock imito qx1 will use the aluminum case, so it will have better heat radiation than others which use the plastic;
2 the System will first come with Android 4.1 Jelly bean, after we tested, we found the Android 4.2 in RK3188 still have some bugs, and the most important is the netflix don’t work on the Android 4.2 tv sticks, so in order to make sure you have a better performance device, i suggest the factory to first release the android 4.1 OS, and will push them to fix the bugs in the Android 4.2 OS, and release soon;
3 Last time,i said the imito QX1 will come with 1080p kernel, but again after some test, the factory said in the 1080p mode, the cpu will get much more heat and system is not very steady, so what they will do is releasing the imito qx1 with 720p kernel and will offer a real 1080p firmware for the guys who really love 1080p.( from our customer report, the 720p is good enough for regular use).
so the device we are reviewing is basing on the android 4.1 jelly bean and 720p kernel.

Original Android 4.1 System, Goolge play store is pre-installed; and i have tried to install lots of apps, all of them are running smooth;
You also can find, there is no soft power off and hide status tool bar function in this rom, but don’t worry, factory will add this later, and a custom rom from bob finless will also add this!

iMito QX1 use the Realtek WIFI chipset, the max wireless speed is 150MBPS, and the imito qx1 support external wifi antenna, after connect with the external wifi antenna,you will get much more wireless signla, and get better wifi signal strength.

iMito qx1 built in Bluetooth, we tested with the RII I6 bluetooth keyboard mouse , working great!

iMito qx1 support VPN and Ethernet, you can use this USB to Ethernet adatper to make the ethernet work.

You can change the hdmi setting here, but please don’t click that” turn on hdmi”, because once you turn off the hdmi, you will get no signal on your TV,and you have to flash firmware to make it back, in future,i will ask factory to hide this setting;

Like what i just said, the imito qx1 will come with 720p kernel,so it is still 720p upscale to 1080p, but factory will release the real 1080p rom for the customer who really need it.

Antutu Benchmark:
Antutu score is 15820 in my test, and please make sure to use the external power adapter when you do the antutu benchmark to get better score.

Linpack Benchmark:
Single Thread Score is 56.302; Multi-Thread scroe is 125.683, they are higher a lot than the RK3066 dual core ones;

Nenamark2 Benchmark: it is 63.4fps, also higher than other rk3188 device i have tested;

4 Regular use performance:

As far as i know, the Netflix don’t work with any android 4.2 base tv sticks,but on android 4.1,it works great, that’s also why imito choose to use android 4.1 in this first bulk.
5 Game Test

The most popular game Angry birds can work smooth on imito qx1, but without the touch screen, maybe you should learn to how to control this with your mouse 🙂

ok, now, it’s the time to check two important app for the gamer
first the droidmote, working without any problem!
second the sixaxis also supported by imito qx1.
We also test the big 3d games like shadowgun, controlled with my smartphone with droidmote, it’s cool!

Please when you have the stock roms give us a link to start work with it. If you can upload the 4.1 and 4.2 it will be awesome. When device arrives my home i will make a custom for it, but i can start to work in it with the stocks roms.

Yes, it has heatsinks. and the aluminum case is also good for heat.
You aves test sixaxis without root the iMito QX1?
Not, with rooted imito qx1.
If it’s the final version, could you please post pictures of the board? Does it have heatsink and aluminum case?
And what about internal antenna? On the board pictures I didn’t see connectors for internal antenna. Could you post some signal strength tests with and without external antenna?

Just received this item. Works great! (thanks geekbuing!)
So far, I have two questions:
1. HOW do I know, which kernel version do I have? (is it 720p or true 1080p?)
it is quite unfair, since you previously mentioned, that this model will provide True 1080p and this is the reason why I choose iMito and not MK908 or others.
2. Unfortunately, I pressed “forbidden” button: “Turn on HDMI” and the TV screen turned off.
HOW to flash the firmware?
The xbmc linked above will not work with the 1080p rom…… 🙁
I saw that this supports game controllers. I have a wired XBox 360 controller so I’m wondering if FPS games would work using the controllers. I’m afraid mapping will not be an option. Just wonderin’ if there’s a way. I’m not fond of droidmote unfortunately. Games in mind would be Shadowgun, Modern Combat 4, AVP, GTA, etc.
Anyone’s response will be greatly appreciated.
