How to root Rikomagic MK802IV Quad Core TV Stick?

Rikomagic mk802iv is one Rockchip RK3188 quad core mini pc, some people has got it, and wonder how to root, the root method for all rk3188 base device should be the same, you can follow this instructions:

  • Make sure USB Debugging is enabled on your Rikomagic MK802iv(Settings -> Developer Options)
  • Connect your T428  to a Windows PC via the mini USB port. (now only support rooted via Windows PC, no linux or Mac)
  • Your PC should detect a new device, and try to install the driver. You can download the driver http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?yqxz3wnqi2hpmcm
  • After having installed the driver, download RK3188_ROOT.rar (password: geekbuying.com), and extract the files.
  • Click “ TPSparkyRoot.bat” and follow the instructions. After 2 reboot, your device should be rooted.

      The password is “correct” in the sense that if you try capital letters it will work…

      Hello,
      I have tried to root my mk802iv, but when i connect to my PC with usb-otg port, the PC don’t detect anything. I haved tried with another PC, nothing detected. Windows 7 x64.
      Please help me.

      You should make sure you have installed the drivers first.

      Installing the drivers on Windows 7 does not work well (for the record) so one must go to manage devices and from there select to manually update driver. If the computer asks for DISK then you’re on the right path, else, inf files are not recognized by Windows and you’ll just be plain stuck.

      Speaking of being stuck – when I connect the device and run the tool, I get error:device not found message.

      Any clues as to what may be the cause of it?
