Tronsmart, an innovative company based on cutting-edged Android devices, We have sold lots of their Prometheus, and got the firmware upgrade and tech support really fast every time. Now they plan to release their new model: Tronsmart T428, which will be base in Rockchip RK3188 quad core chip.
The RK3188 is a 28nm quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 chip with speeds up to 1.8 GHz.
It has Mali 400 quad-core graphics with speeds up to 500 MHz, and support for OpenGL 2.0 and OpenVG 1.1.
The chip can handle 1080p HD video playback at 60 frames per second, or 1080p HD H.264 and VP8 encoding at 30 frames per second. It can also handle dual panel displays and resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 pixels.
Today we just get a sample from tronsmart, and here is some basic specification:
Tronsmart staff tell us, because they are still busy designing the cover, so we just get a PCBA Board for this little mini pc. So the review is base on this board, Here we go:

The Tronsmart T428 use the original Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, and according to Rockchip news, The RK3188 will get Android 4.2 upgrade soon;
We test with Youtube v3.5.5 apk, can get full screen when watch HD movies;

1 Antutu Score : 18706, It is higher a lot than the Tegra 3, Allwinner A31 and Samsung Exynos 4412;

We already take a video and waiting for upload to youtube to show this little power mini pc.
After hours play, i still find some problem, there is no “connect to PC”choice in setting, and The device is also don’t come with rooted, i have no idea how to root a RK3188 Device;
It still has no real 1080P output, like their dual core RK3066 chip, it is still scale from 720P, however, i think, like RK3066, the developer will find method for how to set real 1080p outuput.
Tomorrow we will try our best to do much more test and share more information with you guys.

How do you figure out if it outputs real 1080P or not?

Now MK808, imito mx1/mx2, neo g4 and neo x5, all get real 1080P output.
Is the micro usb port used only for power or is an OTG port as well?
it’s OTG Port as well.,not just for charger.
How is possible to use the only micro USB port as otg if its the only way to power the device? Also, with those specs it’s worrying the lack of actual 1080p resolution (as other older and less powerful device seems now to be capable of).
Is it confirmed that whatever app on the Google store works on this device… right? I need to use it as Win/Mac desktop replacement (media, web, office and stuff like those… as I do with my tablet)

Hmm Antutu shows cpu speed between 300-1600 so it seams that 1.6 it is a maximum not 1.8Ghz
The rickchip rk3188 max support 1.8ghz,you can use the setcpu app to change to 1.8ghz
Is Tronsmart planning to make a Tv-box with these specs?

I see in the pictures next to the micro SDCard slot there is a button or LED. Is this for powering on/off the device while it is still plugged in, or is it for booting into recovery?

I would personally prefer a delayed shipment than getting an unfinished product. Take your time, try to troubleshoot everything during this beta test.

These new chips are becoming very impressive. If they came with a full Linux install including GPU support instead of Android I would be very, very interested in these. With Android I don’t have much use for these. Once the chip makers finally learn they need to open things and properly support Linux instead of the heavily crippled Android version of Linux demand for these devices will be insane. As is with just Android support I’m not interested.
