GOOD NEWS! All TV BOX Sold by Geekbuying Support XBMC Now!

Hi Guys:

We spent 2 days to test this in all of our tv box.

We test on all Platforms, like Allwinner A10, Rockchip RK3066, Freescale, all of them can work well.

First, all of the credit should to XAF(xbmcandroid forum), their developer made this custom rom XBMC Version for us.

As we all know before, apart from devices based on AMLogic AML8726-M1/3,  many platforms still do not support video hardware decoding, so this  must be handled by software. As the CPUs in most devices are not powerful enough to decode HD videos, some people have provided instructions to use an external player, for example with Telechips TCC8925 and Diceplayer. This is not ideal because you basically lose XBMC user interface during video playback, but it’s a good workaround until XBMC 4 Android supports more platforms. However, you still need to edit some config files by yourself.

BUT Now, you don’t need to do above anymore, just follow the below instruction:

Step 1: Install the “MX Player” application to your Android device. You can do this through the Google Play store, or simply by navigating to this page on your device’s web browser and then clicking on the appropriate download link below:

MX Player for NEON Devices

Step 2: Launch and exit the “MX Player” application on your device at least once before continuing.

Step 3: Download and install the “XAF Custom Build of XBMC” to your Android device. You can do this by navigating to this page on your device’s web browser and then clicking on the appropriate download link below:

XAF Custom Build for NEON Set Top Boxes

NOTE: Should you encounter any errors at this point, make sure to Enable “Unknown sources” under “Security -> DEVICE ADMINISTRATION” within your device’s “Settings” panel.

Step 4: Once it’s done installing, launch the “XBMC” application on your device for the first time, wait a few seconds before you begin using it, then jump right in!

This custom XBMC for Android version is bundled with the following add-ons:

  • NuskuNetworks Addon Repo
  • XBMCHUB Addon Repo
  • 1Channel
  • Project Free TV
  • Icefilms
  • TV Links
  • TubePlus
  • Fast Pass TV
  • Fox News
  • TED Talks
  • TMZ
  • YouTube
  • Navi-X
  • XBMC Log Uploader

We have tested in the following device for you, all of them can run this version very well, the 1080P MKV,1080P WMV,and 1080P MOV file can all play very well. Here is the test list:

  1. I tested the XBMC over GK802 but:
    1) i can’t install MX Player for NEON Devices because there is also MX Player PRo
    2) When i try to start a movie the playback don’t work
    3) FW is the new one (21-01-2013)

    Why?
Thank you in advance for your help

please delete the mxplayer pro first, and then install the mx player.

  3. I have the iMito MX2 is this a NEON device?

  4. Sorry but the MX player Pro is the version without advertising of MX player….. So Does is impossibile to use the pro. version?

  5. To use the Pro version, I believe you just have to edit the playercorefactory.xml file.

  6. Ok I modificated the xml files and works well. Thanks

  7. The XBMC launches normally. However videos from youtube will not play. I have read that MX Player does not support youtube streaming. Is there a way to fix this?

  8. I tried this, but when I try to clcik “c” on the video file, its always the dvd layer as default. When I choose mx player or bs layer it says external player active, and I can’t use it. Playing with hw work fine in MX player alone though… What did I do wrong?

which device did you try, you should install the mx player in the post, and then install the xbmc version in the post, do not use other xbmc version.

  10. Thanks for quick reply. I’m not siure what you mean with post, but I used the xaf version for tv set top boxes in your link since i have the neo x5. I used mx player, but it doesnt matter what i use. Same with al payers except the default dvd.

  11. I never made it work with the Custom XAF. I gave up and instead I tried the latest official nightly from XBMC.org from 130222, and it works like a charm with no hickups and HW.

  12. how do you edit the playercorefactory.xml?

with this method, you don’t need to edit playerorefactory.xml file.

  14. Just found out why my files didn’t play with this solution. Mx player doesn’t support smb or nfs protocol that I use for my NAS. I think this should be mentioned in the guide. However the test builds
with internal player work fine so I don’t need it. For people with problems using it I read cifs manager or smbwrapper apps might be the solution since the NAS disk will seem local.
