FOSSiBOT F1200 FAQ: Everything You Need to Know

During the vibrant season of summer in 2024, the FOSSiBOT F1200 has ascended to the pinnacle of popularity among portable power stations. Since its unveiling in early June, this model has garnered acclaim for its outstanding value-for-money proposition. Adhering to the iconic design philosophy of the FOSSiBOT brand, it boasts a substantial 1024 watt-hour battery capacity, ensuring prolonged functionality. With a robust 1200W sustained output and the remarkable feature of achieving full charge in merely one hour, it further supports efficient recharging via 200W solar panels. Accessible through the Geekbuying online store, the F1200 has rapidly cemented its status as the go-to portable power storage option for a vast number of satisfied users.

Even though we have an FAQ on our product page, users still occasionally have questions. To address this, we have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions and answers.

How Long Can FOSSiBOT F1200 Power My Appliances?

The runtime of the FOSSiBOT F1200 between recharges varies depending on multiple factors, such as the total wattage consumed by your devices, whether they operate continuously at their rated power levels and any efficiency or standby losses.

Do you use it continuously or immediately? Some devices like fans, if you use continuously in summer, then you can calculate their rated power. Some home appliances, like air conditioners and refrigerators, do not run continuously at their rated power. Their average consumption might be lower.

When you convert the battery power to AC power for your appliances, there is always conversion efficiency loss which is typically around 15%. And each time you turned on the power station, the F1200 inverter has standby power to keep turned on which is mostly around 25W.

Estimation:

You can use the following formula to calculate the approximate use time theoretically:

Using time(hour)=1024Wh*0.85/(total power(watt)+25W)

Example: a fan with 70W

If you continuously use F1200 to power the fan, then it can last:

1024*0.85/(70+25)≈9.16hrs

Is the 1024Wh capacity and 1200W AC output not enough? Consider FOSSiBOT F2400 which doubles the capacity to 2048Wh and 2400W AC output power.

Can The FOSSiBOT F1200 Be Used As An Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)?

Yes. The FOSSiBOT F1200 supports UPS. In UPS mode, connect the F1200 between your loading and wall socket, when the grid power goes out suddenly, the F1200 will switch over to battery power within 10ms. Meanwhile, it protects your devices’ data like computers and hard drives from damage.

Is FOSSiBOT F1200 Support 5-gear Charging Speed? How Long Will It Take to Recharge?

Yes, you can adjust the input power by the adjustment knob on the front of the machine: 200W/400W/600W/800W/1000W.

For bill saving, you can connect the FOSSiBOT SP200 portable solar panel, and place then under sunlight, it will generate solar power to recharge the F1200.

For faster recharge, you can plug F1200 into any standard household wall socket. With 1000W AC and 200W solar power recharging simultaneously, the F1200 can be recharged from 0%-100% in 1 hour. By 1000W max AC charge, the unit will recharge from 0-80% in just 49 minutes.

Recharge time by 5-gear input power(0-100%):

  • 1000W 1hour 10mins
  • 800W   1hour 23mins
  • 600W   2hour
  • 400W   3hour 10mins
  • 200W   6hour 45mins

Can I Recharge F1200 With Third-party Solar Panels?

Yes, FOSSiBOT F1200 is compatible with portable solar panels that are 12–50V DC, 8A max current and total power cannot exceed 200W. As long as the specs are within the range, it supports F1200.

Can I Run FOSSiBOT F1200 And Charge It At The Same Time?

Yes, you can use it to power your needed appliances while it’s recharging from an AC input, car outlet, or solar panel.

Will It Back Up My House During A Power Outage?

FOSSiBOT F1200 packs 1024Wh battery capacity, it can back up a few necessary appliances like frides, CPAP,  wifi routers, phones and tablets, etc. For supporting longer-time blackout, consider F2400 or F3600 Pro.

Can I Connect Two FOSSiBOT F1200 Together?

The F1200 is a single unit, it doesn’t support extra battery expansion. You can recharge one the F1200 with another, but both units will have some energy efficiency loss in the recharging process. It is suggested to use them separately to save battery capacity.

Can I Use All Of The AC Outlets At Once?

Sure! Each AC outlet supports 1200W output power, but in total, it is also 1200W. So make sure the combined wattage of your connected devices doesn’t exceed 1200W power. The instantaneous starting power of your connected device doesn’t exceed 2400W power. When you already have 1200W wattage power at AC outlets, you can still use the USB and DC ports.

What Is The Difference Between FOSSiBOT F800 And FOSSiBOT F1200?

FOSSiBOT F800 is lighter and smaller, and FOSSiBOT F1200 has a larger battery capacity (512Wh vs 1024Wh), power output (800W vs 1200W) and higher AC input(400W VS 1000W). Also, F1200 supports 5-gear input power adjustment which is not seen on F800. The supported input power to charge from solar panels and car is the same, both 200W.

How Long Does It Last?

All rechargeable batteries lose capacity over time but how fast depends on the battery. In ideal conditions, EcoFlow DELTA mini’s battery will have 80% health after 800 cycles; most phone batteries and portable power stations reach 80% health after only 500 cycles.

How Long Will FOSSiBOT F1200 Last?

The F1200 has a LiFePO4 battery which is known for its high safety and long battery life. Discharge from 0-100%, then recharge from 0-100%, that’s one cycle for a battery. Mostly, a smartphone battery will reach 80% after 500 cycles. While for F1200 portable power station, it will reach 80% after 4000 cycles due to the LiFePo4 battery advantages. That is more than 10 years of daily use.
