At the end of last month, Xiaomi Technology released Xiaomi Mi WiFi 3 (Mi router 3) with four external antennas. According to the official introduction, the four external antennas are high- gain omni-directional antennas. Two antennas are delicated to each frequency (2.4Ghz, 5GHz). 2.4Ghz is up to 5dBi, 5GHz up to 6dBi. Because of this, Mi router 3 supports 802.11ac dual bands and 2×2 double-emission and double-receiving. There is a 2.4G WiFi2X2 connectivity with 802.11N protocol at 300Mbps, and 5G WiFi2X2 connectivity with 802.11AC protocol at 867Mbps.
Thomas, general manager of Xiaomi router, said that the four antennas of Mi WiFi 3 has another name “Franklin Whip Antenna” composed by PCB high-gain copper spring. The PCB board is precisely designed, and 1mm diameter spring brass with higher strength and lower dielectric loss.
He recently gave correct method to put the four antennas of Mi router 3, which can meet the needs of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). That is perpendicular to the desktop 90 degrees, naturally incline and flat on the Mi WiFi 3. In fact, well- spaced to put the four antennas will achieve better coverage.
