I am quite happy to get the Meizu MX4 before it’s released for sale on the market. As a loyal MeiYou (MY, a lovely nickname for MEIZU fans) for years, I am very willing to write this hands-on article.
Take a look at the external package first:
There is a white official seal with MEIZU printing.
Tear off the seal and take out the classic book-style packaging box.
It’s only as thick as a coin.
In the following photos we could see our topic today: the MEIZU MX4. By the moment only some media companies get the white version. What I have at hand is the grey version.
The front face:
The back side:
MX4 is equipped with a new style of charger. Here we can see the difference MX4 and MX3 chargers.
The data cable is still the same, but seems longer.
From the following close-up photos we can see that the power button is still placed on the top of the phone. But it’s made of the same material as the phone body: magnalium.
The front speaker on the top front of the MX4 is apparently bigger than the MX3 speaker. Beside the front speaker are the proximity sensor, light sensor and front camera. About the front panel many people must heard about the special bonding technology MEIZU use to glue the screen with the metal frame. The technology is emphasized in the launch event of the MEIZU MX4. Some people are afraid there will be unnecessary glue between the display and the chrome bezel. It will look bad if that happens. However, there is nothing to worry about if you don’t look at the phone close enough.
At the bottom of the front panel is the charming round virtual home key. It’s said that the key may disappear on the Pro version of MX4. I don’t know if I can accept that…
The loud speaker, USB charging port and microphone are all placed at the bottom.
The volume button is still on the left side of the middle frame. And, like the power button, it is also made of magnalium.
And the beautiful metal bezel:
The rear cover can be easily taken off from the bottom, but it also takes some effort:
A close look at the battery. 3100 mAh is a satisfactory capacity.
The most important feature of the MX4 is the 20.7 MP rear camera. It boasts big resolution and also large size. On the left top is the SIM card slot.
Like iPhone 6 the MX4 camera is protruding.
Now let’s tear off the film and take a quick look at the Flyme 4 system.
Power on the phone and welcome the classic login window of Flyme
Do you like the elements on this window?
Navigate to the setting page, and we can see the Flyme 4 is also based on the Android 4.4.2.
Play some music:
80TB Cloud Photo Album
The notification bar is also changed. You can choose the quick settings you want to put in the bar.
