What is the Viewing Angle of a Monitor?

The viewing angle of a monitor refers to the angle at which we can clearly see all the displayed content on the screen from different directions when watching the screen image. It includes two standards: horizontal viewing angle and vertical viewing angle. For example, a 178° wide viewing angle monitor generally refers to a monitor with 178° horizontal and 178° vertical viewing angles, which means that the image quality remains consistent from almost any position around the screen.

What is the Viewing Angle of a Monitor?

In addition to 178°, 89° is also a common monitor viewing angle. However, due to different human vision ranges, if you are not standing within the optimal viewing angle, the color and brightness you see will be inaccurate. If you choose a large-size monitor, or if you need to watch the screen with multiple people on a daily basis, the larger the viewing angle, the more comfortable and clear it will be to watch. The 178° wide viewing angle almost completely solves the problem of small viewing angle.

The wide viewing angle is also related to the panel. Common IPS panels, VA panels, and TN panels can all achieve wide viewing angles of different sizes. However, the viewing angle of the TN panel is slightly worse, and the other panels can all achieve a viewing angle of 178/178°. But in terms of display performance, IPS panels have the best color display performance, while VA panels have advantages in curved displays. As for which panel users ultimately choose, it depends on personal needs.

What is the Viewing Angle of a Monitor?

The viewing angle of the monitor affects image quality and color consistency. A monitor with a wide viewing angle can maintain consistency in brightness, contrast, and color, resulting in better image quality and visual effects, even if you are not sitting directly in front of the screen. It can help you better capture details and reduce deviations when you play games.
