How Does A Portable Power Station Work?

If you are a true adventurer who loves exploring nature, a Portable Power Station is an essential addition to your travel gear. The high-capacity Power Stations from FOSSiBOT come equipped with multiple outlets to charge all your devices. In this blog, we will provide you with information on how to operate, use, and maintain an FOSSiBOT Portable Power Station.

What Is A Portable Power Station?

A Portable Power Station is essentially a high-capacity battery or power bank that includes one or more AC outputs. This feature allows you to power a variety of appliances beyond just mobile devices. Whether you’re in the kitchen, garden, or anywhere else, you can easily connect and use household appliances with ease.

What Is The Difference Between A Portable Power Station And A Power Bank?

Power Stations are equipped with one or more AC outputs and a larger battery to accommodate heavier devices, making them larger in size compared to standard Power Banks that are designed for portability and ideal for day trips or air travel.

The Portable Power Station has numerous practical uses. It can serve as an additional battery for camping in the countryside or for weekend trips with a motorhome or caravan. When paired with a solar panel, it allows for off-grid power usage.

Which Outputs Does A Power Station Have?

A FOSSiBOT Power Station has a wide selection of outputs, so you’ll have the right solution anywhere. Just make sure you have a suitable cable.

  • One or more 220V power outlets.
  • 12V carplug (cigarette lighter).
  • For easy charging of your mobile devices, it also has USB ports.
  • In addition, there are also USB-C PD input/output available for fast-charging.
  • With the solar charging cable, you can even connect one or more FOSSiBOT Solar Panels to longer enjoy #MoreEnergy.

At FOSSiBOT, we intentionally opt for pure sine waves in our Portable Power Stations to ensure a seamless connection that guarantees high quality and usability.

By using a pure sine wave, you can avoid experiencing any humming or interference when connecting your electrical appliances. Additionally, older appliances with transformers are able to connect flawlessly to our Power Stations. Even your electric toothbrush will work perfectly with our products.

Which Devices Are Suitable To Connect To The Power Station’s AC Output?

The first question to address in this situation is: What is the wattage of the product you want to connect? You can typically locate this information on the product’s specification label or by searching online.

In other words, the F1200 has a maximum power output of 1200W, meaning that any device connected to it must consume less than 1200W to operate effectively. This includes items such as TV, refrigerator, and washing machine. The F2400 has a maximum output of 2400W, while the F3600 has a maximum output of 3600W. With these higher power outputs, you can power larger devices such as cars, camping lights, ovens, and small home appliances for extended periods of time.

How Long Can You Power Your Device Through The Power Station?

Battery content is indicated in watt-hours or Wh. The larger the value, the longer the battery lasts. The battery capacity of the F1200 is 1024Wh.

So the math goes as follows:

1024Wh / (insert wattage of your device) = number of hours of power supply

As an example, if you were to connect a 100W refrigerator:

1024Wh / 100W = 10.24 hours

Note: However, the usable capacity through the AC output is lower than 1024Wh. You always have some loss in power because of the conversion from direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC).

For the F2400, the usable capacity via AC power is about 2048Wh. This means you could run the same refrigerator for almost 20 hours!

  • The Power Station can also be charged with a USB-C PD charger and cable.

With this versatility of charging options, you can charge and use your Portable Power Station almost anywhere!
