Xiaomi’s ecosystem partner Huami, the company who is responsible for the manufacturing of the Mi Bands, has just released its latest wearable the Amazfit Smart Watch on August 30th in China. Huami claims Amazfit smart watch adopts GPS+GLONASS double-star positioning system and houses the world’s first 28nm GPS chip that will achieve accurately real-time tracking, mileage, altitude, stride frequency, pace and other professional sports data. Amazfit sport watch comes in a white box with 1 x Huami Amazfit Smart Watch, 1 x USB Cable, 1 x Charging Dock, 1 x User Manual inside.
The Amazfit sport watch comes with a 1.34-inch display with a resolution of 320 x 300 pixels. It looks just as stylish as Motorola Moto 360 Sport, which features a round dial on the front and a thick scratch-resistant ceramic bezel surrounding it. The dial is always bright, you can check the time anytime and the dial brightness will auto adjust according to the environment, gives you better and more clear eye experience. Moreover, the wristband is user replaceable and allows attaching any 22nm strap to the watch. It’s also IP67 certified, meaning that it has complete protection against dust, and can withstand being submerged in up to one meter of water.
The Amazfit sport watch is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core processor, along with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It supports Bluetooth V4.0BLE, 4G, VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Glonass, and Quick Pay (Alibaba mobile payments). There’s also a PPG-based heart rate sensor on the back which is capable of monitor your real-time heart rate in sports and can efficiently avoid “air rate”. The watch not only will not record heart rate towards air, metal and other non-human skin objects, but also will help users analyze sports data and make user’s exercise more scientific and effective..
All the smart watch perks you’d expect are present including pedometer, real-time heart rate monitor, call and SMS notifications and even mobile payments via Quick Pay. There’s also built-in GPS, which Xiaomi claims is the world’s first 28nm GPS sensor that will achieve accurately real-time tracking, mileage, altitude, stride frequency, pace and other professional sports data, help you analyze and improve your sports level. Moreover, the watch is able to store 500 songs, which you can listen to via a pair of Bluetooth earphones, so you don’t have to take your phone along for a run. They also have a partnership with Watercress FM to provide music streaming.
In terms of battery life, Amazfit is equipped with 280mAh that can last up to five days on a single charge. Although, with GPS mode turned on all the time, battery life cuts back to 35 hours, it’s still way more than the Apple Watch’s claimed 18 hours of “mixed use”. If you’re merely tracking steps, Xiaomi claims that Amazfit can go up to 11.6 days. All the logged activities and workouts will be synced with the MiFit app installed on your smartphone.
